COOS.AI and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Joint R&D “Chiller AIOps: A Data-driven Chiller Sequencing System for Reducing HVAC Electricity Consumption in Commercial Buildings” project

On January 8, 2019, the joint research and development project ” Chiller AIOps: A Data-driven Chiller Sequencing System for Reducing HVAC Electricity Consumption in Commercial Buildings” was officially approved and funded by Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) of Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission. The system will use artificial intelligence, big data, edge computing, Internet of Things to achieve optimal control of chiller plant, effectively reduce the power consumption, bring both economic and social benefits.

Under the scheme, Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission will allocate a special research and development fund to COOS.AI to support project research and development, and will provide an additional grant for a number of postdoctoral researchers and interns to participate in the project within two years.

The team received the Global Innovation Award at the 2017 TechConnect World Conference and Expo in Washington, D.C. PolyU is the first university in Hong Kong to receive this award.

As a core system, COOS.AI provides the platform with IoT, artificial intelligence and blockchain solutions, as well as enjoy intellectual property rights. At present, the prototype project has been deployed and operated in Times Square, Hong Kong, with significant results.
